MUSPOT Football Academy Sports Coach in Choma, Muchindu Chulu, has disclosed that some parents have continued to stop their female children from playing soccer on suspicions that they will end up being lèsbians.

Chula tells Byta FM Sports that the academy has so far lost two promising female footballers after interference from parents based on myths that their daughters would lose the sense of being female.

He explains that some parents also stop their children from playing soccer for fear of them losing body shape and start looking like men.

Chula however notes that despite such challenges, the club has managed to contribute three players to the national women’s team, a move he describes as positive.

He adds that the club is on a campaign to recruit more girls in the sport in order to grow its prominence in the district.
