Police in Petauke District has detained a 64-year-old man of Lusangazi District in connection with the murder of his grandson.

Acting Eastern Province police commanding officer Davis Simwanza says Adamson Sakala of Kalamba village in chief Sandwe’s area has been detained to help police with investigations.

Mr Simwanza says the deceased Isaac Banda went missing on 21st November 2021 between 11:00 hours and 17:00 hours and he was discovered dead on 26th November 2021.

He says the body of the deceased was in decomposed state and has since been buried.

Mr Simwanza says the suspect who is a grandfather to the deceased was later dragged to police to help with investigations.

But in a social media video which has since gone viral, Mr Sakala is seen confessing that he killed the boy and removed the private parts for ritual purposes.
