A TWENTY-year old man of Nakonde has become the first person in 2023 to have his funeral held whilst he is still alive.

According to Chete FM, without any word to his family, Moses Chandamali left Mundu Village for greener pastures in Chinsali last November.

Together with his brother, Moses found a job at a farm and began to work.

But back home, relatives of the two men searched for them in every corner of the village and when they did not find or hear from them, the family concluded they had died and held a funeral for them, even without their remains.

However, yesterday Moses made a visit to Nakonde town looking for a suitable Valentine’s gift when he bumped into his aunt.

Upon seeing Moses in the Central Business District of the rice-supplying district, his aunt caused a spectacle as she exploded into a blistering run to flee from the ghost she had encountered.

But Moses ran after the screaming aunt who was also praying in tongues as she weaved her way past human traffic and when he eventually caught up with her, the frightened and breathless woman begged the ghost of her late nephew not to harm her.

She explained that his funeral had been very sorrowful, especially that no one had seen their bodies to pay their last respects after their mysterious deaths.

But Moses explained that he had not died but just left the village to go and look for a job in Chinsali.

He said he could not be in touch with any of the family members because he had no mobile phone.
