RESIDENTS of Kamwala, a predominantly Indian suburb of Lusaka handed four robbers some Bollywood-style beatings after their failed bid at robbing a home of one of the residents.

Based on narrations by eyewitnesses, the four thieves walked themselves into trouble after they approached a maid and told her that her boss had sent them to refill the gas stove.

However, instead of refilling the stove, the four opted to fill the maid with terror and shivers after they grabbed her peacock neck, grabbed the keys and forced themselves inside.

However, unbeknown to the criminals, brother to the owner of the house who was manicuring the flowers noted the employee’s neck in the firm grasp of the four.

Fearing that the criminals could next also squeeze his neck, and God forbid, anything else in his trousers; the man let out a mother of screams which sent a cracking alarm throughout the neighborhood.

And like a Bollywood street party, the residents poured out from their houses and performed some rather painful dances on the criminals.

One would be forgiven if they concluded that the residents were releasing all the heat from the tonnes of chilli they have so far consumed this year as they spared little energy in disciplining the failed robbers.

The criminals were whipped with logs so big they could hold a roof, and with each blow, they wriggled in pain like snakes been killed.

But before they could be booked a place in the University Teaching Hospital wards, police arrived on the scene and whisked the battered and tattered quartet away from Indian justice so that they may have chance to enjoy free food and a soft bunker bed in prison.

Zambia Police Service deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the beating of the four criminals and identified them as Anderson Chalwe aged 45, Obedi Mboshi aged 42, Emmanuel Mwansa aged 39 and Emmanuel Mulenga aged 44 all of unknown address.
