FORMER MMD MEMBERS SERVING AS CABINET MINISTERS WILL KILL UPND
Former MMD members, who are now serving as cabinet ministers in the UPND government, are doing more harm than good, party insiders have complained.
They feel President HH is putting his head on the chopping board by still keeping former MMD ministers who are more concerned about their pockets and enriching themselves as opposed to ensuring that President Hichilema delivers on the many promises he made to the people.
The Minister’s lack of patriotism to the party has left a lot of youths complaining of being sidelined from empowerment programmes despite having worked hard and sacrificed for UPND to get power from the PF.
The president should have taken time to scrutinise these individuals who are now on the governance table despite having served for over 30 years in MMD, and now enjoying in UPND, while youths continue to be ignored and sidelined.
What can tired and once retired politicians bring to the table honestly speaking, how can we have 70% cabinet composition belonging to MMD?

Let’s start from the vice president, Madam Nalumango.She served in MMD for a long time and today she is the vice president.
Look at a critical Ministry such as health, look at who is heading it.Madam Silvier Masebo, despite also being former MMD, is tired to bring any meaniful changes in the health sector. Lack of medicines in hospitals has been a cry for a long time, but her lukewarm responses to key health problems has been worrisome.
Take a look at Felix Mutati,s former MMD, Minister who served as MP, but now back in the UPND cabinet.
Minister of agriculture, Hon Muchima is from MMD, served for a long time and back in UPND cabinet.
Chushi Kasanda was in MMD, Collins Nzovu was not even anywhere near the UPND but a business man, Mtolo Phiri was MMD.
Finance minister Musokotwane is former MMD, Rodney Sikumba was MMD,Mike Mposha, former MMD, Chushi Kasanda was former MMD Councillor,Charles Milupi is also former MMD, Nkandu is also former MMD.
Are we short of other people that can bring positive change and reduce the governance stagnation?
Let us sincerely scrutinise these appointments.
That’s why they are not helping our youths because they are first attending to their own people they came with from MMD because they don’t have the zeal and interest to attend to what is immediate in the interest of protecting the party.
Now, how can a cabinet of a political party forming government for the first time , have majority of its cabinet ministers having served in MMD. What new life are they bringing to the table apart from destabilisation of the party?
Our youths are receiving no support because there is no interface between the ‘MMD’ ministers and the youth in the structures.
Empowerment is directly going to those people they knew from were they are coming from while our youths who fought running battles, to put HH on the seat are languishing in despair.
Let’s look at cabinet level. We also have former MMD people serving there too.
Patrick Kangwa was saving in MMD, deputy secretary to cabinet was in MMD.
Talk of diplomatic appointments. We have almost 40% of them with MMD roots, while 30% of District Commissioners are all MMD products.
Our appeal is to President HH, please relook at the people that mean well within your cabinet, and do away with those who will cost you politically.
The president should use his intelligence to get insight on how these issues are affecting his administration and find long lasting solutions to the cries of his passionate followers who want to see him succed and change Zambia’s development prospects.
Our president, you have more to lose , than these people who have served in previous government’s and don’t care whether we cross 2026 because they would have made a lot of money for them to survive, while your legacy will suffer consequences.
You are working hard to restore Zambia’s socioeconomic glory, buy those that you have appointed are undoubtedly letting you down.
We are happy however that we have people within cabinet in the likes of Mulaimbo Haimbe, Jack Mwimbu, Douglas Siakalima among others who mean well and indigenous, stayed and withered the storm and are still looking forward to secure 2026.
