A male nurse of Chipata in Eastern Province has died after being struck by lightning yesterday.

Eluid Banda died on the spot as lightning struck him around 15:00 hours in Feni Sub Centre, Cjupata.

The 23 year old former Mwami School of Nursing student who aced his General Nursing Council examinations with a distinction last year had done his internship at St Francis Hospital in Katete.

During his time in school, Banda was the president of the students Union.

Banda’s death has left his family and fiancé devasted.
