May 11, 2023 – A 30-year-old man of Siavonga District has drowned in Lake Kariba after the canoe he was in capsized due to strong waves.
Doubt Chinyama of Fishing Camp Compound was paddling a canoe to Banana Island from the mainland when his canoe was hit with a strong wave causing it to capsize.
The victim was alone in the canoe. Efforts to rescue the victim by other fishermen who witnessed the incident proved futile.
The incident occured on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 around 12:00 hours on lake Kariba in Siavonga District.
Zambia Police Marine officers together with members of the public are currently searching for the victim on the Lake.
