It is often said that not all beggars are genuine in their request for help. A majority of beggars have become scammers, preying on the sympathy of innocent individuals and exploiting their kindness for personal gain.

Many of these beggars are well-organized and work together to deceive people. They have perfected the art of creating false stories about their circumstances, such as pretending to be orphans, disabled, homeless, or penniless, all to gain compassion and monetary help. Others have gone as far as claiming Mental Health just to gain sympathy. Did you know that some of these people that claim to be doing charity work, work with beggars in order to get donations from donors? That’s the reason we have so many people doing charity work.

These beggars are now everywhere, a long time ago beggars were only found on the streets but now we have advanced beggars who I call “cyber beggars or scammers. These use the internet to steal, they approach you with a convincing tale of troubles and suffering but often provide little or no proof to back up their claims.

In some cases, they have even been known to use their profits from begging to fund criminal activities, such as drug addiction, theft or organized crime, thereby making them dangerous rather than genuine. Others are funding their luxurious lifestyles and paying off debts they acquired through their fake lifestyles.

One pitfall that people fall into is feeling guilty or embarrassed about rejecting such an individual, which leads them to give more than necessary or even become victims of these beggars’ scamming tactics. This is the case of Facebook donations where people want to give in order to show off, or giving for competition. But what you don’t know is that you’re worsening the bad behaviors that these people are involved in.

Therefore, it is important to exercise caution and tact when approached by beggars. Verify their stories and if unsure, politely decline to give them anything. Remember, it is important to help genuine individuals in need of support, and this can be done by donating to or supporting credible non-profit organisations rather than giving out money in the streets and worse off here on this Blue App.

Some beggars are genuine, a majority of them are scammers. It is important to be vigilant, exercise caution, and not be swayed by emotional manipulation, to help protect yourself and do justice to those who sincerely need assistance.
