A THIRTY-three year old woman of Kalomo has died after being axed by her polygamous husband whom she tried to divorce after 10 years of marriage. It has been reported that Atrina Munsaka became the second wife of Victor Sungababwa aged 43 in 2013 but their marriage hit the rocks in 2015.
After several years of enduring marriage problems, Atrina decided to opt out and sued Sungababwa for divorce in the Bbilili Local Court. But Atrina’s surprise, Sungababwa refused to accept the summon when she served him on Saturday.
Still determined to have Sungababwa in court for their divorce case, Atrina went back yesterday morning around 06:00 hours and escorted by a member of the Choma District a Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU). On arrival, Sungababwa asked his early morning visitors to wait outside as he went back in the house only to return with an axe which he violently drove into his wife’s head killing her instantly.
Leaving his wife in a pool of blood while she breathed her last, Sungababwa ran back in the house and gulped a poisonous chemical in a suicide attempt but was quickly apprehended by the CCPU and taken to Choma General Hospital were he has admitted under police guard awaiting a murder charge.
