A two year-old baby from Chikankata District is nursing a painful private part in Lusaka’s University Teaching Hospital-UTH, after being allegedly defiled by her 46-year-old father.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, tells Byta FM Zambia that the incident is suspected to have occurred on May 12, 2024, between 09:00 hours and 12:00 hours after the mother left the child in the custody of her husband to go to church.
Daka explains that while the victim’s mother was at church, the suspect came and informed her that their daughter was not feeling well, with both of them rushing back home.
He states that the baby was taken to Chikankata Mission Hospital and later transferred to U.T.H where she was examined and was found that she was sexually abused.
Daka notes that the suspect has been arrested, with the victim still admitted to U.T.H receiving medical treatment.
