A 19-YEAR-OLD pupil of Mansa District has been brutally murdered allegedly by her 21-year-old boyfriend, who later consumed a poisonous substance to end his life but was resuscitated at the hospital.
Nchimunya Mubita, of Ng’ola Musuma, a learner at Musuma Day Secondary School, sustained four deep cuts on the head and lower jaw.
Southern Province police commanding officer Auxensio Daka said the incident happened on Sunday, with the suspect identified as Charles Bowa.
“On the material date around 07:00 hours, Nchimunya was seen off on a bicycle by her mother, Mrs. Mweene Musuma. When the mother realized that her daughter had delayed returning home, she tried to contact her by phone, but it was unreachable,” he said.
Mr. Daka said later around 12:00 hours, the suspect’s uncle, Robert Hamusela, of the same village, saw his nephew, bleeding, running towards his house while shouting for help.
Mr. Hamusela decided to follow the direction his nephew had come from and found the house door wide open, with someone crying for help from inside. Upon entering, he discovered Nchimunya lying on the floor with multiple cuts on the head,” Mr. Daka said.
He said Mr. Hamusela alerted residents of the community and the police, before the suspect was reported to have drunk poison.
