The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has been honoured with an award for Excellence in Innovation in Public Service Delivery by the Zambia Youth Delivery Forum, in recognition of its efforts to advance innovative approaches that benefit young people across the country.
The award was formally presented by the Forum’s Executive Director, Ms. Nazia Alloo, during a courtesy call on the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe. The recognition highlights the Ministry’s continued commitment to youth development and its proactive support for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of young people.
Speaking at the presentation, Ms. Alloo noted that the Ministry has remained a key partner in promoting innovation and creating opportunities that enable young people to thrive. She emphasised that the award reflects the Ministry’s dedication to supporting programmes that directly impact youth and foster meaningful engagement.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Ministry, Mr. Chileshe expressed gratitude for the recognition and commended the Zambia Youth Delivery Forum for its impactful work since its establishment. He acknowledged the critical role played by youth-led organisations in complementing government efforts, particularly in addressing challenges faced by young people.
“It is organisations like the Zambia Youth Delivery Forum that strengthen the work of government by amplifying the voices and aspirations of young people,” he said.
Mr. Chileshe further stressed the importance of partnerships in ensuring inclusive and effective service delivery. He added that recognising and celebrating the achievements of young people serves as a powerful motivator for continued excellence and innovation.
The Permanent Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting youth organisations and fostering an enabling environment for meaningful youth participation in national development.
Meanwhile, the Ministry’s Director of Youth, Ms. Mable Beene Nedziwe, also welcomed the recognition, describing it as an encouragement for the Ministry to continue enhancing service delivery for young people across Zambia.
The award was conferred during the Zambia Youth Excellence Awards ceremony held last week at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka, where several young individuals were also recognised for their outstanding contributions in various fields.
The recognition underscores the growing importance of collaboration between government institutions and youth-led organisations in driving innovation and delivering impactful services that empower the next generation.
