A shocking incident has rocked Garden House in Lusaka, where a 25-year-old woman, Anastasia Chingumbe, is alleged to have been murdered by her lover, identified as Maybin Chewe, who is currently on the run.

According to information gathered, Anastasia was last seen on Friday when she was dropped off at her residence by her employer. In the days that followed, her absence raised concern among residents.

The landlord and fellow tenants reportedly became suspicious after noticing an increasing number of flies and a strong, persistent stench coming from her rented room. When questioned about her whereabouts, the suspect—who was still present at the time—allegedly claimed that she had gone for work.

However, after the suspect later disappeared, the situation worsened. The smell became unbearable, prompting the landlord and tenants to force entry into the house.

Upon entering, they made a grim discovery: the lifeless body of Anastasia Chingumbe wrapped in a duvet, with a pool of blood found beneath the bed. It is further alleged that the suspect had been sleeping in the same room alongside the body.

Relatives of the deceased have since revealed that the couple had a history of an abusive relationship. Although they had previously separated, they reportedly reunited in February after the suspect persistently returned to her home.

The family is now demanding justice, alleging that the suspect has been sending threatening messages to the deceased’s younger sister, who is said to be living in fear while he remains at large.

As of now, authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the matter.

The incident has sparked outrage and concern among residents, with many calling for swift action to apprehend the suspect and ensure justice is served.
