POLICE in Eastern Province have arrested 26 year old Afunika Phiri for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old stepdaughter.
Confirming the incident to #Kalemba in a statement, Eastern Province police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba, stated that Phiri was arrested after his 33 year old wife reported the matter to Vubwi police station yesterday.
According to police, the suspect, repeatedly abused his step daughter taking advantage of her mother’s absence from home.
” The victim reportedly endured the abuse for some time, as the suspect threatened to chase both her and her mother away if she disclosed the matter to anyone,” Mweemba said.
Mweemba added that the victim could no longer hide what was happening and confided in a guidance teacher at her school after complaining of painful private parts.
He explained that police moved in quickly and apprehended the suspect, who is expected to appear in court soon.
He said a police medical report form was issued to the victim.
