Organised People’s Party (OPP) President and 2026 presidential candidate Dr. Brian Mushimba has called on Zambians to reject politics of slogans, saying true leadership is rooted in responsibility to the nation.
Addressing the public in Lusaka, Dr. Mushimba said Zambians must look beyond catchy phrases when choosing leaders.
“Leadership is not about slogans, but responsibility,” he said.
He told the nation:
“Today, I stand before you not merely as a candidate for President. I stand before you as a son of this soil. A boy raised in the mining town of Mufulira, who grew up witnessing both the promise and the pain of our nation.
I know what Zambia once was. And I know what Zambia can become again.
Like millions of you, I have watched our people struggle under the weight of rising prices, unemployment, uncertainty and growing frustration. I have met graduates with degrees but no jobs. Parents working every day but unable to feed their families comfortably. Farmers struggling to survive despite feeding the nation. Young people losing hope in a country that should belong to them.”
Dr. Mushimba added that the country needs leaders who understand the struggles of ordinary citizens and are prepared to take responsibility for solutions.
