Police in Livingstone have rescued a 13-year-old girl alleged to have been abused by her abductor for three days in Maloni Township.

Livingstone Mayor, CONSTANCE MULEABAI, who witnessed the rescue operation, described the incident as heartbreaking.

Ms. MULEABAI says the girl, whose identity has been hidden, had been locked-up in the house by her alleged abductor and abuser for three days.

She says during the period, her alleged abductor never allowed her to go outside, and was made to relieve herself using plastic bags, which the owner of the house emptied in the toilet outside.

Ms. MULEABAI has appealed to the Police to bring the culprit to book, while pledging to take the girl back to school as she is a grade three school drop-out.

And an eye witness, MOSES SIMFUKWE, said on the material day, he bought sand from the owner of the house, who apparently, is said to be unknown to the neighbours.

Mr. SIMFUKWE said after buying the sand, he left to go and look for a wheelbarrow, and that when he returned, the owner of the house had already left and locked the house.

He said as he was collecting the sand, he heard a voice of a girl, coming from the house, calling him for help.

Mr. SIMFUKWE said he decided to engage the neighbours but none believed him because the house was locked and there was no sign or voice of a girl coming from there.

He said through the area councillor, the police and the Mayor were notified.

Mr. SIMFUKWE said after the Police forced the door open and gained entry, the girl was found hiding in a wardrobe.
