ACC ARRESTS CHADIZA DEBS, 2 CBU LECTURERS

The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged Chadiza District Educatíon Board
Secretary (DEBS) for corruption involving K50, 750.0.

Misozi Mwale Mwenya, aged 58, of house number 904, Chipili Compound in Chadiza, who is the Chadiza District Education Board Secretary has been charged with one (01) count of willful failure to comply with applicable procedure or guideine relating to procurement contrary to Section 34(2) (b) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.

Details of the offence being that, Misozi Mwale Mwenya on dates unknown but between 1 May, 2018 and 30h May 2018 did willfully fail to follow applicable procedure when she authorized the procurement, of transportation services at a contract sum of K50,750.00, an amount beyond her procurement threshold, at the material time.

Meanwhile, Dr Daniel Mwanza and Mr Henry Mvula both Lecturers at Copperbelt University,
Jambo Drive Campus have been arrested after they received money from two female first-year
students.

Dr Mwanza, 37, of house number 81 Lubwa Road, Ndeke, Kitwe and Mr. Mvula, 35, of Beautiful Gates, off Tafuna Drive, Ndeke in Kitwe have been jointly charged with one count of Corrupt Practices contrary to Section 19(1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act
Number 3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.

Details are that Dr Mwanza and Mr Mvula jointly and whilst acting together with unknown persons on dates unknown but between 1st August 2023 and 29th August 2023 being public Officers namely Lecturers at the Copperbelt University did corruptly solicit K5,000.00 or sexual gratification from two named female first year Copperbelt University students.

ACC Head of Corporate Communications Timothy Moono said the duo did in fact corruptly receive K1,500.00 cash gratification from the two female students, as an inducement or reward for the said lecturers to make them pass their Continuous Assessments (CA) and final
examinations.

The above officials have since been released on bond and will appear in court soon.
