THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has closed its corruption case involving Copperbelt Minister Elisha Matambo and Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana.

ACC has also cleared Solicitor General, Marshal Muchende of corruption allegations.

This was revealed this morning in Lusaka by ACC Director General Daphne Chabu during a media briefing who said findings from investigations showed no evidence linking Muchende to bribery.

The Director Genneral said Muchende was initially investigated in 2024 over allegations that he received US$500,000 from former Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) provisional liquidator Milingo Lungu.
“Allegations of abuse of authority and suspected bribery were thoroughly examined, but no evidence was established linking Mr. Muchende to any corrupt transactions,” she said.

Chabu further said the commission has from January 2026 to date received a total of 143 cases, in which 72 cases are corruption related while 71 cases are non corruption related.
She added that no cabinet Minister is currently under probe.

However, the DG said the notion that the commission as well as other law enforcement agencies are selectively targeting individuals especially those aligned with the opposition is unfounded.

She said the commission remains committed to professionally fighting corruption whether past, present or future, regardless of who is involved.
