Anglican church members involved in road accident as four die

Four people have died, while 73 others have sustained injuries in a road traffic accident at Mano area along Mansa -Chipili road in Luapula Province.

Police Deputy Spokesperson, DANNY MWALE says the light truck driven by MUBANGA KAPYA was carrying 103 passengers all members of Anglican church who were going for a burial for their Reverend father.

Mr MWALE says the other vehicle involved was being driven by PRUDENCE MUKUWA 43 years of Ministers compound in Mansa who together with other four passengers escaped unhurt.

He says third vehicle was being driven by JIMMY MUSONDA 43 years of Mumbwa Central Province who escaped unhurt together with the passengers on board.

Mr MWALE told ZNBC News that three passengers on a truck sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot while the fourth one died later at Mansa general hospital.

He said that 24 passengers seriously injured are not yet identified, while 26 casualties sustained slight injuries and were treated and discharged.

73 passengers have been admitted to Mansa General hospital, with two vehicles extensively damaged.
