A COPPERBELT University Engineering lecturer has joined the queue of other lectures accused and arrested for the shameful bid to trade good grades for sexual favours from female students

It is reported that Dr Webby Mulyata Mwaka was caught using his power to ask for sex from a named female student in exchange for helping her pass her class.

The Anti Corruption Commission head corporate communications officer Timothy Moono said the incident happened between January 1 and October 3, 2023 in Kitwe.

Mwaka is being charged with one count of Abuse of Authority of Office, which means he used his position as a lecturer to solicit sexual favours from a female student as an inducement or reward for himself to help her pass her course.

The Commission has released him on bond and will appear before court soon.

This isn’t the first time that CBU lecturers have been arrested on similar charges; just last month two others were also arrested by the Commission.

The rise in these types of offences has raised concern, therefore the ACC encouraged victims not to be afraid to report such incidents so that corruption can be eliminated in all its forms.
