Lusaka, Zambia – May 2026 – Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) President Brian Bwembya, popularly known as B Flow, has issued a strong clarification statement after public claims emerged suggesting that ZAM never contacted Yo Maps or his team regarding the controversial scenes in the trending music video “Budget.”

The “Budget” video, featuring Frank Ro and Dizmo, has sparked widespread debate on social media, with some parents, faith leaders and members of the public demanding that certain scenes be edited, while others defended the content as artistic expression.

ZAM Says Claims of “No Communication” Are False
In his latest statement, B Flow said he was forced to release a documented timeline of engagement between ZAM and the Yo Maps team, stating that the narrative being spread online is damaging to the credibility of the association and its nearly 1,000 members.

“This move has been necessitated by a false narrative being paddled against ZAM and myself purporting that we lied about being in contact with Yo Maps and his team,” B Flow stated.

He said protecting the integrity of ZAM is essential because the association represents hundreds of Zambian musicians.

April 26: ZAM Claims It Contacted Yo Maps and Director Lo

According to the statement, ZAM first contacted Yo Maps on April 26, 2026, after public complaints emerged about scenes in the “Budget” video.

ZAM then reached out to Yo Maps’ video director Longwe Nyirenda, popularly known as Director Lo of Reel Studios.

B Flow revealed that during an 11-minute phone call, ZAM advised Director Lo to consider using YouTube’s in-platform editing feature instead of deleting the entire video, to preserve the views and metrics.

Director Lo reportedly requested time to consult Yo Maps before making changes and later confirmed that Yo Maps had approved the editing process.

Director Lo Reportedly Submitted Edited Video to Africori

ZAM further claimed that once the video was edited, Director Lo informed them that the revised version had been submitted to Africori, Yo Maps’ distributor, for replacement on YouTube.

The process was expected to take 48 hours, and ZAM initially believed the issue was resolved.

April 30: Public Complaints Continue, Original Video Still Online

However, B Flow stated that by April 30, ZAM continued receiving complaints from parents, church leaders and members of the public, and the original version of the video was still active on YouTube.

When ZAM followed up, Director Lo reportedly explained that the first upload attempt of the revised version was rejected, but efforts were still ongoing to complete the replacement.
Director Lo allegedly assured ZAM that a “clean version” of the video had already been circulated locally.

May 2: ZAM Speaks With Yo Maps Manager DJ Kandeke

B Flow also revealed that on Saturday, May 2, 2026, ZAM held a conversation with Yo Maps’ manager DJ Kandeke, during which ZAM restated its concerns.

According to the statement, Kandeke reportedly told ZAM that the video was not meant for ZNBC or local TV stations, explaining why they were reluctant to replace the YouTube version.

B Flow claimed Kandeke laughed when told about the possible influence on children and allegedly responded:

“Why are their parents allowing them to watch the video?”
Kandeke also reportedly suggested that Yo Maps is always being targeted, referencing a previous incident where RTSA summoned Yo Maps over a motorcade following his AFRIMMA award celebration.

ZAM Says It Has Supported Yo Maps Beyond This Controversy

In his statement, B Flow dismissed claims that ZAM has not supported Yo Maps in his career, revealing that the association has regularly assisted the artist and his team.
He cited support such as:

Visa recommendation letters for Yo Maps and Olios Records team

-Securing international bookings, including Burkina Faso

-Playing a role in helping Yo Maps during his arrest in Namibia for immigration non-compliance

-B Flow emphasized that ZAM’s relationship with its members goes beyond public celebrations.

-B Flow Requests Consent to Publish Screenshots and Proof

The ZAM President further stated that due to the Cyber Crimes Act No. 4 of 2025, which restricts publishing private conversations without consent, he is publicly requesting Yo Maps, Director Lo and DJ Kandeke to grant him permission to publish communication evidence.

“I’m hereby publicly requesting Yo Maps, Director Lo and DJ Kandeke to publicly grant me consent to publish the said communication,” he said.

“I Will No Longer Condone Anyone Trying to Dent My Name” – B Flow

In a firm closing statement, B Flow warned that he will not tolerate further attempts to damage his reputation or that of ZAM.

“I will no longer condone anyone who attempts to dent my name or that of the institution I represent,” he stated.

Yo Maps “Budget” Video Controversy Continues
The ongoing back-and-forth between ZAM and Yo Maps’ camp has continued to dominate online discussion, with fans divided on whether the music video should be edited or left untouched.

As the story unfolds, many Zambians are now waiting to see whether Yo Maps and Olios Records will officially respond to B Flow’s latest clarification statement.
