Citizens First (CF) party Serenje’s Nkundalila Parliamentary Candidate Bangwe Naviley Chisenga says the under-five health structure at Kabinga in Lushibashi Ward is unbefitting.
Bangwe stated that he sympathised with the community over the poor state of the clinic.
He added that he has pledged to mobilise the community to mould bricks and then provide cement and iron sheets to construct a decent structure, explaining that he cannot fulfil this now because of elections but will do so once in office in August.
Bangwe observed that climate-smart infrastructure is urgently needed in the health sector to preserve medicines, as rising temperatures accelerate chemical degradation and reduce drug potency.
He noted that expectant mothers in the area face life-threatening challenges travelling to distant health facilities, especially during labour when the difficult terrain makes walking impossible.
Bangwe advanced that some women are forced to deliver at home due to the long distances and increasing pain, which can lead to fatal complications.
He said that he will push for Kabinga to be declared a voting centre so that residents no longer have to travel long distances to register and vote.
Bangwe affirmed that he has already demonstrated his commitment from his own pocket, having previously built staff houses at Serenje Chiefdom Clinic and Nakalengule Clinic.
He emphasised that reliable energy access at health posts would enable night-time deliveries and ensure life-saving equipment can operate around the clock.
Bangwe also reminded the community of his personal contributions over the past ten years, financing from his own pocket a 1×3 classroom block at Kalela, a 1×2 classroom block at Moyenda, one classroom at Chisomo, a borehole at Chibale School, a clinic staff house at Serenje Chiefdom, a staff house at Nakalengule, and an examination strong room at Kabansa, among other community projects.
He urged residents to vote for CF under Councillor Abess Nalungwe, Council Chairperson Brighton Yamba, himself as MP, and Party President Harry Kalaba on 13 August 2026 using the tree symbol.
