Opposition Citizens First (CF) Serenje’s Nkundalila Constituency Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate Bangwe Naviley Chisenga says he is shocked that women in Kalilanama, Kabamba Chiefdom, still cover nearly 20 kilometres for antenatal services despite expanded CDF that only exists on paper in the area.

Speaking on his campaign trail, Bangwe sympathised with the community for moulding bricks to build a clinic under one of the past Members of Parliament who could not manage to deliver iron sheets, leading to the structure falling apart.

He further sympathised with the community for sharing fertiliser in gallons, assuring them that the CF government will ensure they collect the correct number of bags and are promptly paid for delivering crops to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA).

He pledged to engage NGOs under the Joining Forces Alliance and some members of the Zambia NGO WASH Forum to visit the area for possible collaboration with Government to take health care services as close to the people as possible.

Bangwe consoled the people for choosing leaders that disappear after being elected, urging them to vote for CF President Harry Kalaba, Brighton Yamba for Council Chairperson and Joshua Mvula as Kabamba Ward Councillor.

He further pledged to lobby for a 1×5 classroom block for children to have access to secondary education.

Bangwe said it is sad that the children’s right to education is not achieved in the area as they end at Grade 7.

He paid tribute to NGOs such as Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) that built an Early Child Education (ECE) learning centre.

Bangwe urged other NGOs in the development sector to consider Kalilanama with a view to improving education in the area.

He also said efforts must be made to build climate resilient infrastructure such as bridges connecting to Kalilanama.

In the last ten years, Bangwe has financed from his own pocket a 1×3 classroom block at Kalela, a 1×2 classroom block at Moyenda, one classroom at Chisomo, a borehole at Chibale School, a clinic staff house at Serenje Chiefdom, a staff house at Nakalengule, and an examination Strong Room at Kabansa, among other community projects — with some staff houses still to be completed.
