IT was a case of an investment gone wrong when a Kasumbalesa Bola Bet branch manager who stole K123,391 was consumed by the Spin game he played with the hope of multiplying the money.
Police on the Copperbelt have arrested Harrison Kalombwe 26 for allegedly stealing over K100,000 from the bookmarker.
Kalombwe of house number 106 in Mine township is accused of stealing the money from the betting company and invested it in the virtual spin game but luck was not on his side.
Copperbelt Province Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba said on Sunday around 08:00 Mr Kalombwe opened the shop for the clients and they started playing the spine after some time his supervisor in lusaka monitored some suspicious transactions on his computer from the kasumbalesa bola bet.
Mr Mweemba said Regional Manager Mulonyeni Tembo 35 was directed to go and verify some of the suspicious transactions.
He said on Monday when Mr Tembo reported for work he noticed that K123,391 cash was missing on the balance sheet.
“On monday when he reported he discovered that there is a shortfall of K 123,391 cash on the balance sheet. On the actual closing balance there is K 229,588 but cash at hand was K 106,197 making a shortfall of K123,391. The matter was reported at chililabombwe police station where it was established that Mr Kalombwe used the money for playing the spine,”he said.
He said the matter was reported to the police by Mr Tembo and an arrest was made.
Police investigations in the matter have continued.
