Chilanga Constituency has commissioned two key public facilities — the Tubalange Police Post and the Makeni GRZ Clinic Laboratory — with area Member of Parliament Hon. Sipho Hlazo saying the projects show Government’s commitment to taking development to the people through the Constituency Development Fund.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony at Tubalange Police Post on Wednesday, Hon. Hlazo said the new infrastructure will directly address security and health needs for residents.
“The completion of the two projects underscores Government’s commitment to taking development closer to the people through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF),” Hlazo said.
Constructed at a cost of K1,486,295.67, Tubalange Police post has been fully furnished and equipped. Hlazo said it will enhance security in the area, which has seen growing residential and commercial activity.
Meanwhile, the MP said the new lab is expected to improve access to quality healthcare services, cutting diagnosis times and reducing referrals to UTH and other hospitals.
The Constituency Development Fund was increased to K30.6 million per constituency in the 2024 national budget to fund community projects in health, education, security, and infrastructure.
Chilanga District, located in Lusaka Province, has prioritised police posts and health facilities in recent CDF allocations amid complaints of crime and long queues at clinics.
Hon. Hlazo urged residents to safeguard the new facilities and work with law enforcement and health staff to ensure they serve the intended purpose.
