CHILDREN’S CODE ACT SENSITIZATION, ROLLED OUT IN MUCHINGA PROVINCE

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, has rolled out the sensitization of the Children’s Code Act, in Muchinga Province, with a call for stakeholders, to join hands in promoting and protecting the rights of children in the country.

Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary,Mr Henry Mukungule, has observed that the rights of children continue to be violated, hence the need to ensure that more people are made aware of the new law that border on the promotion of their welfare.

Speaking when acting Director for child, Mr Changano Ngoi, and Chief Child Development Officer, Mr Luckson Chipampa, paid a courtesy call on him in Chinsali District, the Permanent Secretary admitted that children are vulnerable and require a voice for them to be protected.

He therefore welcomed the Children’s Code Act sensitization programmes,and expressed his gratitude for the efforts being made in ensuring that Children’s welfare is uplifted.

And acting director for Child, Mr Ngoi, disclosed that two more documents to support the effective implementation of the act, namely the Child Safeguarding Framework, which was launched on 26th April, 2023, and Child Participation Framework, sheduled to be launched on 15th June, 2023, will be in effect, to consolidate efforts in the advancement of children’s rights.

He said there is need for all stakeholders, such as the church mother bodies, traditional leaders, civil society organization’s, among many others, to support the Children’s Code Act.
