A 23 year old woman of Paramount Chief Mpezeni’s area in Chipata District has been ganged raped by five men.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba says the victim sustained painful private part, waist, backache, neck and hands after the incident on Sunday night.
Mr Mweemba said the suspects entered the house of the victim and subdued her before they took turns in raping her.
He said the victim screamed for help but no one came to her rescue.
Mr Mweemba said the suspects grabbed the clothes of the victim after they finished raping her.
He said police have launched investigations to bring to book the culprits.
Mr Mweemba said the victim indicated that she can identify all the suspects because her phone light was on during the incident.
He said earlier the victim was whipped by a relative after she was seen standing with a man by the roadside near the village.
