A 42-YEAR-OLD man of Sinazongwe District is believed to have been killed by a crocodile in Lake Kariba.
Victor Syalubulo was dragged into the water by the reptile just after stepping out of the dugout canoe on the shores of Zebra Island on Wednesday night.
Southern Province police commanding officer Moono Namalongo said Mr Syalubulo and his friend, a Mr Kalimbwe, had gone to cast fishing nets on Lake Kariba when the attack happened.
“About 22:00 hours, Mr Syalubulo disembarked from the canoe into shallow water and was suddenly attacked by a crocodile, which dragged him into deeper water,” Mr Namalongo said in a statement.
Search for the body is under way.
