A man of Isoka, Muchinga Province, is on the run after an 11-month-old stepdaughter under his care died in unclear circumstances.

Martha Chisanga, of Katonga village, died on Thursday when she was left in the care of her stepfather, Abel Silomba, 25.

Martha’s mother Maureen Nalomba, 17, got married to Silomba in February when the baby was only 10 months old.

All was well until Nalomba decided to leave her baby with her husband around 11:00 hours last Thursday so that she could conduct farming activities in her field.

But while she was in her farm, she received a call from her husband, who asked her.
