Lusaka, Zambia – May 2026 – The controversy surrounding Yo Maps’ “Budget” music video has taken a new twist after DJ Kandeke, Yo Maps’ manager, issued a strong response dismissing claims made by Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) President Brian Bwembya, popularly known as B Flow.

The “Budget” video has sparked heated debate online, with some members of the public calling for it to be edited due to scenes considered culturally inappropriate, while others have defended the artist’s creative freedom.

“B Flow Did NOT Speak to Yo Maps or Olios” – DJ Kandeke

In his latest post, DJ Kandeke insisted that B Flow never contacted Yo Maps or Olios Records management before issuing a public statement about the video.

“Let me set the record straight ☝️ Mr B Flow did NOT speak to Yo Maps or Olios Management about the Budget video before his public statement,” Kandeke wrote.

The manager further revealed that he personally confronted B Flow on 02/05/2026 at 13:59, questioning why the statement was issued without their permission.

According to Kandeke, B Flow allegedly responded by saying he had spoken to Director Lo, the video director behind the production.

“Director Lo Is Not Olios Records” – Kandeke Clarifies

DJ Kandeke emphasized that Director Lo is not part of Olios Records and should not be treated as official management representation.

“Director Lo does NOT work for Olios Records and is NOT affiliated with us,” he stated.

Kandeke explained that Reel Studios, Director Lo’s company, is a private entity that Olios only hires when they choose to work with them.

He stressed that speaking to Director Lo cannot be regarded as official communication with Yo Maps or the record label.

Kandeke Rejects Claims of International Bookings

The Yo Maps manager also dismissed B Flow’s earlier claims that ZAM had helped secure international bookings for Yo Maps.

“Stop making false claims about bookings that never happened. Mr B Flow has NEVER booked Yo Maps. He has NEVER booked Olios,” Kandeke said.

The statement has added more fuel to an already heated debate online, with many now questioning the accuracy of the information being shared by both sides.

“When You Mess Up, Own It” – Kandeke

In a direct jab at B Flow, Kandeke urged the ZAM president to take responsibility instead of shifting blame.

“When you mess up, own it. Don’t shift blame to your colleagues,” he wrote.

Call for Equal Treatment of Artists

Kandeke concluded his statement by calling on industry leaders to treat all musicians fairly and avoid selective targeting.

“To all leaders: Treat all artists equally DON’T be selective,” he posted.

Budget Video Debate Continues to Divide Zambians

The back-and-forth between ZAM and the Yo Maps camp has continued to trend heavily on Zambian social media, with supporters on both sides exchanging arguments.

While some believe ZAM is simply protecting cultural values, others feel Yo Maps and Olios Records are being unfairly singled out.

As the controversy continues, many Zambians are now waiting for further responses from both ZAM and Yo Maps himself on whether the “Budget” video will be edited or remain unchanged.
