THE life of an 11 month old baby of Chibombo’s Mungule area has been snatched away after a dog broke loose from where it was bound and attacked the baby.

It is reported that the baby was playing on the verandah of her house at Roza Kahiya farms where the dog attacked the baby, leaving it with wounds on the head and chest.

Father to the deceased, Oliver Siamuzovu, 26, an employee at the said farm, told police officers who visited the scene that he had left the dog tied around the dog house and went to attend to the pigs.

But suddenly, the dog broke loose from the chain belt and went straight to his house where it attacked the baby, named Choolwe Siamuzovu.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident stating it occured yesterday at around 18:00 hours at Roza Kahiya Farms in Mungule area.

Mwale said the body of the baby was deposited at University Teaching Hospitals (UTH) mortuary awaiting post-mortem and burial.

“An inquiry file has been opened in the matter,” said Mwale.
