Choma South parliamentary aspirant Joe Muchindu has warned voters against “experimenting with leadership,” saying the new constituency cannot afford “jokers” for the next five years.

“Five years is a lot of time to have jokers in leadership positions,” Muchindu told mourners in Siaskabole Ward shortly after a funeral on Thursday.

He said Choma South needs an MP who will work with President Hakainde Hichilema to drive development in the constituency.

Also present at the gathering was Trevor Mwiinde, who is seeking adoption for the same seat.

Muchindu and Mwiinde are among several aspirants positioning themselves ahead of party adoptions for the 13 August 2026 general election under the ruling party.

Choma South was created during the ECZ’s 2026 delimitation exercise.
