LUSAKA, Zambia – Organized People’s Party (OPP) President Dr. Brian Mushimba is set to receive international recognition after being selected by the House of Lords in the United Kingdom for the African Business Leadership Special Commendation Award.
According to a statement issued by the Organized People’s Party on June 30, 2026, Dr. Mushimba will be honoured for his outstanding contributions to engineering, education, and national development.
Recognition for Distinguished Leadership
The party described the award as a prestigious recognition of Dr. Mushimba’s distinguished career, which spans engineering, public service, and leadership.

Career in Engineering and Public Service
Dr. Mushimba is a renowned engineer whose professional career has combined technical excellence with public service.
He previously served as Member of Parliament for Kankoyo Constituency and held several Cabinet positions, including Minister of Higher Education and later Minister of Transport and Communications in the Government of Zambia.
During his tenure in government, he championed policies aimed at promoting skills development, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, and infrastructure development.
The statement also highlighted his professional experience with reputable engineering firms across the world, where he gained extensive expertise in engineering and project delivery.

According to OPP, Dr. Mushimba has earned recognition for using engineering solutions to address practical challenges while helping build systems that expand opportunities for Zambians.
