The opposition Citizens First (CF) party says the ruling UPND has failed the people of Barotseland.

In a media statement, CF Presidential Campaign Manager and National Spokesperson Stanley Mhango stated that his remarks were in response to Mitch Dennis Mundia’s criticism of CF leader Harry Kalaba.

He explained that Mundia had accused Kalaba of engaging in divisive politics by speaking about Barotseland.

Mhango observed that such comments ignore the harsh realities of poverty and deprivation in Western Province.

He noted that official statistics show Barotseland remains among the most marginalised regions in Zambia.

Mhango advanced that the Barotse Agreement of 1964 was a binding pact for equal distribution of resources.

He said that raising the issue is not about votes but about justice and dignity for the people.

Mhango affirmed that federalism would empower provinces to manage their own resources and development.

He emphasised that silencing debate on Barotseland is an insult to its history and people.

Mhango stressed that unity without development amounts to exclusion.

He declared that Citizens First (CF) will continue to stand with the people of Barotseland.
