A 29-YEAR-OLD man of Lundazi has landed in police cells for sharing a Facebook video that incited members of the public to rebel against a lawfully established government authority.
Francis Maseko Phiri of Chipyola Compound was arrested on Saturday evening after a fellow resident reported the video to police, claiming its contents called on people to oppose a lawful government authority.
Eastern Province Police commanding officer Robertson Mweemba said the complaint was made by 52-year-old Wilson Mumba of Chikaya Compound, who found the video uncomfortable for his eyes and ears after he came across it while browsing Facebook on his phone.

Mweemba said Mumba alleged that the video contained content inciting members of the public to rebel against or oppose a lawful government authority.
“Police investigations indicated that Phiri had allegedly used his phone to share the message with members of the public on Facebook,” Mweemba said.
Phiri is now in police custody and he awaits court proceedings and his phone has been seized for forensic examination.
