The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has appointed Lieutenant Colonel Kambani Ronald Lungu as the new General Manager for National Teams with immediate effect.
The appointment, announced on August 19, 2026, is expected to strengthen the administration, coordination and overall management of Zambia’s national football teams.
FAZ General Secretary Charles Chakatazya said Colonel Lungu brings extensive experience in football administration, having served in several leadership positions at both club and association levels.
According to Chakatazya, the decision to appoint Colonel Lungu reflects FAZ’s commitment to improving the operational structure of the country’s national teams.
“We are confident that Col. Lungu’s experience in football administration will add value to the national teams set-up. His role will be critical in ensuring that our national teams are well coordinated and supported,” Chakatazya said.
Colonel Lungu currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Zambia Premier League club Red Arrows, one of the country’s most successful football teams.
Before becoming Chief Executive Officer, he held the position of Team Manager at Red Arrows, where he was actively involved in the club’s football operations and administration.
His football administration experience also extends to Power Dynamos, where he previously served as a member of the club’s executive committee.
FAZ believes his vast experience in football management will help improve the administration of Zambia’s various national teams, including the senior men’s team, the Copper Queens, junior national teams and other representative squads.
Chakatazya said Colonel Lungu will be expected to work closely with technical and administrative personnel across all national teams to ensure the smooth implementation of football programmes and activities.
“We welcome Col. Lungu to this important role and look forward to his contribution towards improving the management and development of our national teams,” Chakatazya added.
The appointment comes at a crucial period for Zambian football as the country continues preparations for several regional, continental and international competitions.
Colonel Lungu replaces Charles Chakatazya, who previously occupied the position before being appointed FAZ General Secretary.
The Football Association of Zambia expressed confidence that the new appointment will enhance the management framework of the national teams and contribute to the long-term development of Zambian football.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by FAZ Head of Media and Communications Nkweto Tembwe on behalf of the Football Association of Zambia.
