Family Development Initiatives (FDI), a Muslim Faith Based Organisation, has expressed deep concern following the loss of ten lives in Choma due to suspected alcohol intoxication.
FDI Team Leader Sheikh Yussuf Ayami indicated that the organisation is saddened by the deaths linked to the consumption of illicit brews.
Ayami pointed out that alcohol generally poses grave risks to public health and safety.
He explained that such products often contain harmful substances capable of causing severe illness or death.
The FDI Team Leader urged communities to remain vigilant and report illegal brewing activities to relevant authorities.
He further appealed to parents and guardians to protect children from exposure to dangerous alcoholic drinks.
Ayami said the Qur’an warns believers that intoxicants are abominations of Satan’s handiwork and commands them to avoid such practices, noting that their harm outweighs any benefit.
