International Football Consultant Clifford Mulenga says sharing his life story with young people has reminded him that the lessons of the past are still critical in raising the next generation of leaders.
Speaking after a mentorship session with youth, Mulenga said being part of a group of leaders guiding young people has been an amazing experience that he intends to continue.
But the former Chipolopolo star expressed concern that many children are navigating adulthood without proper guidance from parents and elders.
“I have realized that a lot of these young kids are learning to be adults on their own. We are only intervening when mistakes have already been made,”he said.
The ex – soccer star called on parents, adults and community leaders to break the silence around difficult topics.

“Let us not be shy to pick our children’s minds on things such as drugs, sex, alcohol, friendships, relationships, and their education,” he urged.
Mulenga said creating safe environments for open conversations is key to helping children thrive.
“Let us do more to create environments where our children can thrive and be better humans. The future belongs to them but the responsibility to prepare them, begins with us,”he added.
Clifford Mulenga, who played professional football in South Africa, Sweden and Thailand, has in recent years focused on youth development through football and mentorship programmes.
He often shares his personal journey to inspire young athletes and future leaders to make informed life choices.
