Garry Nkombo has written a formal letter to President Hakainde Hichilema following the revocation of his appointment as Chairman of the UPND Elections and Campaign Committee.

In a letter dated 27th February, 2027, addressed to “H.E The President, UPND Secretariat, Rhodes Park, Lusaka”, Nkombo acknowledged receiving communication from the Head of State dated 26th February 2026, which reportedly informed him of the decision to revoke his appointment.

Despite the decision, Nkombo maintained a respectful tone in the letter, thanking President Hichilema, the National Management Committee, and the entire party membership for the opportunity he was given to serve in the role.

“I would first and foremost like to thank you, your Excellency, the National Management Committee and the entire Party rank and file for the privilege that was given to me… from where you appointed me as Chairperson of the Elections and Campaign Committee,” Nkombo wrote.

He further expressed gratitude for being entrusted with the position since 2017, describing it as a rare privilege and a humbling experience.

Nkombo also admitted that during his tenure, he may have fallen short in some areas.

“In my role as Chairperson, I may have missed the mark and may have had my own shortcomings in the execution of my duty,” he stated.

In what has sparked widespread discussion online, the Mazabuka-based politician ended the letter by reaffirming his loyalty and support for President Hichilema’s leadership and the UPND.

“Finally, I wish to place on record my unequivocal pledge of allegiance in support of your distinguished leadership and the United Party for National Development,” the letter reads.

The letter has since gone viral on social media, with many Zambians debating whether Nkombo’s message reflects loyalty, political strategy, or internal party developments ahead of future elections.
