President Hakainde Hichilema has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of His Majesty Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV of the Ngoni people, describing him as a revered traditional leader whose legacy will remain an important part of Zambia’s national heritage.

In a message of condolence shared on Saturday, President Hichilema said the nation had received the news of Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV’s death with profound sadness.

The Head of State paid tribute to the late traditional leader for his dedication to preserving Ngoni culture and heritage, noting that he served as a unifying symbol of Zambia’s rich cultural diversity.

“His Majesty was a revered custodian of Ngoni culture and heritage, and a unifying symbol of Zambia’s rich cultural diversity. His distinguished service and leadership will remain an enduring part of our national heritage,” President Hichilema stated.

The President further said Zambia stands united with the Ngoni Royal Establishment, the bereaved family, and the entire Ngoni community as they mourn the loss of one of the country’s most respected traditional leaders.

The passing of Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV has triggered an outpouring of grief from political leaders, traditional authorities, religious organizations, and members of the public across the country, many of whom have described him as a symbol of wisdom, unity, and cultural preservation.
