POLITICIAN Geoffrey Mwamba, who was issued with a bench warrant last week, explained to a magistrate that he absconded court because he was admitted to hospital after his oxygen intake dropped.
Mwamba, who appeared frail, informed the court that last Wednesday, “my oxygen intake started reducing whilst I was home”.
“Then I decided to go to the hospital. Immediately I arrived at the hospital, I was put on oxygen and they started giving me IV’s to bring down my BP (blood pressure) and also to control my cardiac problem,” the politician explained.
He said while in hospital, he phoned his son, whom he asked to find the surety who would go to court and present a sick note and inform the magistrate about his admission.
