A witness has denied knowing that former Zambia Air Force (ZAF) Commander, Lieutenant General Ronnie Shikapwasha, told medical staff at Maina Soko Hospital that he shot himself.

Ballistics expert Isaac Kalimanshila testified in the Lusaka High Court that it was not possible for General Shikapwasha to shoot himself.

Mr. Kalimanshila, testifying before Judge Conceptor Zulu, confirmed during cross-examination that the gunshot wound was inflicted at close range and that the T-shirt worn by General Shikapwasha had gunpowder residue.

In this matter, General Shikapwasha’s wife, Jane Lusengo, stands charged with one count of murder. It is alleged that on January 14, 2024, Ms. Lusengo shot her husband, who later died from the wound at Maina Soko Hospital on January 15, 2024.
