A 13-year-old girl of Livingstone’s Ngwenya Compound has fallen pregnant after being defiled by an 18-year-old teenager between December, 2023 and March, 2024.

Aunt to the victim who reported the matter to Mbita Police Post, noted that her niece is 4 months-2 weeks pregnant.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, notes that on a date unknown but within December, 2023, the victim went to Choma for a holiday.

Daka explains that when she returned in January, 2024, the aunt observed some changes in the niece’s body formation, specifically the breasts which became more bulged than usual.

He says being fearful of the possibility of the victim’s conceiving at tender age, she decided to take her to Livingstone University Teaching Hospital for medical examination, where she was confirmed pregnant.

Daka states that when interrogated by her aunt, the victim revealed that she has been in an intimate relationship with the suspect since November, 2023, with the dual having frequent carnal knowledge.

He says a Police Medical Report form was issued to the victim as per procedure and a Docket opened, while the suspect is said to be on the run.
