The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts has called for the formalisation of Zambia’s modelling sector to create stronger structures through which models can engage Government and advance the creative industry.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe made the call when Miss World Zambia, Dr. Adah Mushibi and Miss Universe Zambia, Ms. Mubanga Hatyoka, both under ARM Model Management Zambia, paid a courtesy call on him this morning. They were accompanied by their model coordinator, Ms. Irene Changwa.
Dr. Mushibi recently represented Zambia at the Miss World competition held on 5th September 2026, where she finished among the top 12 contestants globally and emerged among the top two contestants from Africa.
Ms. Hatyoka, who holds the Miss Universe Zambia title, is preparing to represent the country at the 75th Miss Universe pageant in Puerto Rico, where she is expected to travel on 5th November 2026.
Mr. Chileshe said Government was ready to support the growth of modelling as part of the wider creative sector, but stressed the need for the industry to establish a properly organised association that can represent the interests of models and engage Government in a structured manner.

He said a formal association would also make it easier for Government to provide support to the sector, including assistance towards international engagements, in a manner similar to the support provided to national sports teams such as the Copper Queens.
The Permanent Secretary further proposed partnerships that could introduce creative industry and modelling-related training in schools through Memoranda of Understanding with relevant institutions.
He said Government would continue exploring ways of supporting young Zambians participating in international competitions, including assistance with travel, while encouraging stakeholders in the modelling industry to strengthen their structures.
Mr. Chileshe said a well-organised modelling sector would help create a clearer path for young people seeking opportunities in the creative industry and give Government a stronger platform through which to support and develop the sector
