GOVT UNEARTHS ‘GHOST’ HEALTH FACILITIES

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo has announced that her ministry has unearthed a scam involving ghost health facilities and workers across the country, a discovery that led to five senior officials being sent on forced leave.

In a ministerial statement made in Parliament today, Ms Masebo told the house that 161 rural health centers were recorded in Central Province when officially only 121 centres are documented in her ministry.

Equally in Eastern Province, 199 rural health facilities were recorded when official documentation shows that only 153 centres exist.

Due to this, five Ministry of Health officials have been put on forced leave to help with investigations.

The five include Director-Human Resource, Fredrick Mwila and his assistant, Dennis Siamphwisi.

Others are Director of Planning, Henry Kasembe, Chief Human Resource Administrator, Ireen Bwalya, And Senior Human Resource Officer, James Makasa.

Ms. Masebo says the government is shocked to learn that the ministry of health was initially working on fake number of Health centres.
