A 26-year-old lady only identified so far as Catherine, has died in Mazabuka’s Kaleya Station after allegedly being electrocuted in a house she was accommodated in with her herbalist boyfriend, John Banda, estimated to be aged 20.

Owner of the house, Christopher Lubasi, 35, reported the incident to Mazabuka Police on April 17, 2024, around 22:10 hours.

He notified Officers that he had accommodated the couple at his house, leaving them there to run personal errands around 09:00 hours and when he came back around 21:00 hours, he found the lady deceased, with her boyfriend nowhere to be seen.

Southern Province Commissioner of Police, Auxensio Daka, says the deceased is suspected to have have touched an extension cable which was connected from the one-way socket to the adapter.

Daka states that physical injuries were seen on the left-hand fingers, with some skin coming out due to some burn.

He notes the remains of the lady were taken to Mazabuka General Hospital and deposited into the mortuary for further investigations.
