…calls for unity and support for all adopted candidates in Kafue East

John Mikaya, UPND Youth Chairman for Kafue East, has been adopted as the party’s councilor candidate for Shimabala Ward ahead of the 13 August 2026 elections.
Mikaya has served as area councilor for Shimabala in previous elections.
In a statement today, Mikaya said he received the adoption with gratitude and humility, noting that the moment belonged to every supporter, youth, parent, friend and official who stood with him throughout the process.
“I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and humility after being adopted to represent our people in Shimabala Ward as councilor,” he said.
Mikaya thanked ward officials, district officials and the party leadership for their trust and confidence, pledging to serve with dedication, honesty and unity. He also acknowledged his supporters for their prayers, encouragement and sacrifices, saying he would never take their backing for granted.
The youth leader also urged residents to support all adopted candidates and work together for the development of Kafue East and its people.
