A TWO-YEAR-OLD and his father have died while the mother is nursing serious injuries after being struck by lightning in Kapiri Mposhi.
The baby and father died when the house they were sleeping in was struck by lightning in Sixteen area around 01:00 hours yesterday.
Kapiri Mposhi District Commissioner Francis Hasalama identified the father as Maybin Musonda, 26, and Clifford as the son.

The mother is admitted to Lukomba Rural Health Centre for treatment. “This family was sleeping and when it started raining in the area, their house was struck by lightning,” Mr Hasalama said.
“The man and his two-year-old son died on the spot but the mother survived.”
By press time, arrangements were being made through Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to bury the bodies as they were burnt beyond recognition.
Following a number of lightning incidents, particularly in Luapula Province in the last few weeks, police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said they are seeking ways of ensuring the safety and well-being of community members.
