Malawian witchdoctor opens defence in resurrection case

A 34-year-old Malawian traditional doctor who is charged with obtaining money by false pretences following his claims that he has powers to resurrect dead people has opened his defence in the Chipata magistrates’ Court.

EMMANUEL BANDA got K900 from KENNETH NYIRENDA of Kasenengwa District under the pretext that he was going to bring to life his son DRAIN NYIRENDA who died while performing gulewamkulu dance on December 24, 2023.

Mr. BANDA claimed that he had already resurrected one person from the dead before in chief MBOROMA’s area in Luangwa district.
