A 40 year old man of Chinsali District has allegedly committed suicide after he failed to settle the K1,000 debt he owes his wife.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer KAUNDA MUBANGA has told ZNBC news in a statement that JAMES MUSHIBWE was found dead on Tuesday morning following days of misunderstandings with his wife.

Mr. MUBANGA has explained that police have established that Mr. MUSHIBWE borrowed 1,000 Kwacha from his wife, in February this year, in order to start a business.

He has explained that after borrowing the money, the deceased started drinking beer heavily and misused the money, therefore he failed to pay back the money.

Mr. MUBANGA has added that this led to misunderstanding between Mr. MUSHIBWE and his wife, and she eventually stopped sleeping in the matrimonial bedroom.

He has stated that when police visited the scene, they found the body of Mr. MUSHIBWE in a blanket, next to maize fumigation chemical tablets, which he is believed to have swallowed.
